THE LEDGER OF SOULS

The Thorne Archives: File 01

Dying was easy. High school is a nightmare.

For two hundred years, Elara Thorne was the perfect Victorian aristocrat: cold, dead, and impeccably dressed. But after a resurrection ritual goes sideways, she wakes up with a beating heart, a ravenous appetite, and the one thing she feared most: mortality.

Now, Elara is stuck in the body of a modern sixteen-year-old. She has no magic, no money, and absolutely no idea how to operate a smartphone. But she doesn't have time to mourn her undead status.

The Ledger of Souls—the cursed grimoire that anchors her family’s debt to the underworld—has been stolen.

The trail leads to Benjamin Harrison High School, a building designed by her father to be a spiritual battery for the damned. To retrieve the book, Elara must navigate a treacherous labyrinth of social hierarchies, gym class dodgeball, and cafeteria mystery meat.

But she isn't the only one hunting. Principal Henderson is watching her with eyes that look a little too much like burning coals. He’s not just an administrator; he’s a Barghest—a hell-hound in a tweed blazer—and he’s waiting to collect the debt in blood.

With the help of a burnout Siren, a paranoid hacker, and a boy who turns into a Golden Retriever, Elara must track down the thief and balance the books before the upcoming Celestial Ball.

Because if the beat drops before the debt is paid, Elara Thorne won't just be grounded. She’ll be erased.

Digital illustration of two characters in a library with glowing bookshelves. A woman with purple hair and freckles holds a lantern, while a man with brown hair in a leather jacket holds a key. A small creature with large ears sits on the woman's shoulder. The title "INK & IRON" appears at the top, and the text "Book One of the Shoppe of Odds Isla Shade" is at the bottom, indicating a fantasy novel cover.

INK & IRON

Book One of the Shoppe of Odds

Some stories are meant to be read. Others are meant to be lived. And some… are meant to be deleted.

Fay has the perfect job: manager of Lucius Shoppe of Books & Oddities, a dusty sanctuary in the city of Door where the impossible is just part of the inventory. With her unique ability to "Voice" reality—charming customers and smoothing over rough edges—she keeps the magic quiet and the coffee hot.

But the quiet ends when Theron walks in.

A brooding locksmith with iron in his soul and a dark debt to pay, Theron isn’t looking for a book. He’s looking for a breach. He warns Fay that the "Author"—a terrifying entity obsessed with order—has decided that the city of Door is too messy. Too chaotic. And it’s time for a rewrite.

When the city’s history starts vanishing and gray-suited bureaucrats begin "hushing" the public library, Fay and Theron must form an uneasy alliance. Joined by a caffeine-addicted hacker and a tiny, book-eating dragon named Chapter, they are the only thing standing between their world and total erasure.

They have the Ink. They have the Iron. Now, they just need to survive the first draft.
